Spotlight on Setting in a hospital Waiting Room

They say, “Write what you know.”
I do and I don’t.

I mean, obviously I don’t know anyone who can slide into other people’s heads. That idea probably came from some old Quantum Leap reruns skittering around in my brain, combined with me wondering what would happen if I found myself standing over a dead body, holding a knife, with no idea how I got there. (Yeah, I’m weird.)

But the rest of it--characters, dialogue, setting… all of those come from what I know. I’d find it very hard to write a story set in Tokyo because I’ve just never been there. I wouldn’t know where to begin.

blogging hiatus

Hey guys. As you may have noticed, I've been MIA the last week or so. I am in the middle of moving and I have poor internet connection. Posts over the next two weeks or so will be sporadic if non existent. I am hoping to get things running as smoothly as possible asap. Please bear with us while these changes are taking place. Release Date: December 26 2012
Publisher: Pocket Books
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Pages: 436

Goodreads Synopsis:
The breathtaking first novel in New York Times best selling author Gena Showalter’s new paranormal romance series, Otherworld Assassins, featuring a black ops agent who is captured and enslaved…and the beautiful deaf girl who holds the key to his salvation…

THE SWEETEST TEMPTATION…

Black ops agent Solomon Judah awakens caged and bound in a twisted zoo where otherworlders are the main attraction. Vika Lukas, the owner’s daughter, is tasked with Solo’s care and feeding. The monster inside him yearns to kill her on sight, even though she holds the key to his escape. But the human side of him realizes the beautiful deaf girl is more than she seems—she’s his.

THE ULTIMATE PRICE…

Vika endures the captives’ taunts and loathing, hoping to keep them alive even if she can’t free them. Only, Solo is different—he protects her. But as hostility turns to forbidden romance, his feelings for her will be used against him…and he’ll be put to a killer test

My Thoughts:
Gena brings us another amazing story. With otherworld creatures mixing and living among humans, Gena taps into a whole other level of sexy with this one.

The characters are fantastic as always. With great depth and complex back stories. I really love the storyline of this one. It was jam packed full of suspense and mystery and it was very very dangerous.

The heat and intensity between Solo and Vika was undeniable. The connection and chemistry was great without going over the top. I loved how Gena was able to have both character's help and save each other from a horrible past. The depended on each other for survival.

I loved that this book didn't focus soley on the sex. Now don't get me wrong I love a good sex scene and it was sexy as hell but Gena's stories are always so intricate and you can really delve into the characters and the plot. The sex scenes are just a bonus.

I am so excited to see where Gena is going to take this series. I cannot wait to jump into the other character's stories.

Another A+ from Gena Showalter.

Author Interview: Jennifer L Armentrout

Jennifer L Armentrout is a New York Times Bestselling author of The Lux Series and The Covenant Series. I want to thank Jennifer for taking time out to answer some questions for us all!

 1. You have so many series that you are currently writing from multiple publishing companies in many different genres and you are pretty active online as well. How do you find the time to have so many stories on the go and meet your deadlines?

Sometimes I feel like I'm going to go insane trying to be active and meeting the crazy deadlines. I don't know how I do it. I just do. I think I can because I seriously love writing, editing, and talking to people. And writing is my full time job. That helps.

2. From beginning to end how long does it usually take to finish one of your books?

Anywhere from 7 days to 3 months. Really depends on the story and how its flowing.

3. I know that you have your adult contemporary book coming out this year under J.Lynn but do you have any other YA  story ideas for when the Lux and Covenant series end?

Oh. Wow. Yes! I have two New Adult novels coming out, Wait for You March 4th and Figid August 27th. I do have a YA paranormal series that *hopefully* will see the light of day. I wrote it before Obsidian and based Daemon Black off the character I created in this series. =D

4. Your success in the YA community has exploded over the last year. How do you feel about having your books named in many of the Top Ten of 2012 posts from multiple bloggers?

It's amazing. I'm still dumbfounded by it all. I never thought that when my first book was published that it would be like this. The blogging community has been amazing and I owe a lot of any kind of success that I do have to them.

5. How differnt is your New  Adult Nephilim series from your YA series?

Nephilim Rising isn't considered New Adult. It's just a flat adult novel. I tend to think that Nephilim Rising is very much like my YA series, especially the Covenant Series, as it is very action packed.

Review: The Holder's Dominion by Genese Davis

The Holder's DominionThe Holder's Dominion by Genese Davis
Release Date: March 1 2013
Publisher: Beaver's Pond Press
Format: ARC Paperback
Pages:392
Genre: Fantasy

Goodreads Synopsis:
After her father’s death on a mountain rescue mission, Kaylie Ames watched her family shatter. She fled Tacoma for college in faraway Austin, figuring that even the worst campus drama would be a relief. But when her old friend Elliott turns up on his knees in the grocery store aisle, raving about something called a morphis, Kaylie feels compelled to enter Elliott’s unfamiliar world.

Guided by Elliott and his friends, Kaylie signs on to the massively popular online game Edannair. There she discovers a world of beautiful vistas and magical creatures, where people from all over the globe step into the roles of warriors on fantastical quests. But a real-world evil threatens the players: the mysterious Holder, leader of the elite team known as Sarkmarr, is coercing his followers into traumatic offline dares known as “morphis assignments.” To save her friends, Kaylie must infiltrate Sarkmarr and survive the Holder’s tests.

Will she find the courage there to hold her real-world family together?

My Thoughts:

Holy WOW! This book was awesome! I absolutely loved every word of it! I feel
honored to be one of the first to read it, before it hits the bookstores even.

Kaylie Amos suffered a horrible tragedy. She lost her father to mysterious
circumstances. Her mother reacted by completely shutting down, acting as if her husband
never existed. No one could mention him and the pictures were all put away. In turn, this
causes Kaylie’s brother Hunter to act out by running away for days at a time. Kaylie does
the only think she thinks she can do to cope, she runs away to college.

While there, she reconnects with a childhood friend, who introduces her to the
most amazing online world. But while the game world itself is awesome, awe-inspiring
and beautiful, Kaylie discovers that people are doing real-life challenges
called ‘morphises’, which are causing real life pain and trauma all for the approval of a
mysterious man called ‘The Holder’. But Kaylie sees the way he treats people. Why
would anyone go through this for anyone so nasty? Just how deep into the game is Kaylie
willing to go? Will she begin her own morphises?

I really like Kaylie as a character. Watching her struggle with the pain of losing
not just her dad, but really her family as a whole, was heart-breaking. At times,
throughout the book, I was almost in tears. Kaylie’s character developed nicely
throughout the story; her reactions to situations were natural and believeable.. I couldn’t
help but hope that she would hook up with Perdonic, or Rawley, two of my favorite
characters. Perdonic was a great mentor, supporting kaylie in the game, while Rawley
was the perfect antagonist. Ms. Davis gave both character’s substance and terrific
personalities.

Ms. Davis descriptions of the online world of Edannair were so detailed, so
beautiful, amazing and intriguing that I actually googled it to see if it was real. Sadly, it is
not, but I don’t doubt that once this book gets out, someone will develop it. Or rather,
many some ones. Will it be as big as World of Warcraft or Dungeons & Dragons?
Maybe; I hope so. I will definitely recommend ‘The Holder’s Dominion’ to anyone and
everyone, not just readers of a genre or videogamers. It is an amazing story that flows
beautifully, catches the reader’s interest very quickly and leaves you wanting more. My
only question—will there be a sequel?

I personally enjoy playing Role Playing Games (RPG) and adventure games with
my husband and children. I have played some online games and definitely would enjoy
Edannair. Do you play video games? Online or counsel games? What kind of games do
you enjoy playing?
