Review The Darkest Whisper by Gena Showalter

The Darkest Whisper (Lords of the Underworld, #4)

Goodreads Blurb:
He is the keeper of Doubt and his entire world’s about to be rocked.

Bound by the demon of doubt, Sabin unintentionally destroys even the most confident of lovers. So the immortal warrior spends his time on the battlefield instead of the bedroom, victory his only concern…until he meets Gwendolyn the Timid. One taste of the beautiful redhead, and he craves more.

Gwen, an immortal herself, always thought she’d fall for a kind human who wouldn’t rouse her darker side. But when Sabin frees her from prison, battling their enemies for the claim to Pandora’s box turns out to be nothing compared to the battle Sabin and Gwen will wage against love…

My Thoughts:
I love Sabin!! This is one of my favorite series'. Gena's adaptation of Demon's is an amazing read. The Lords of The Underworld are great to snuggle up with at night. This is book 4 in the series. This one features Sabin and Gwen. While looking for the last 2 artifacts that the lords need they encounter a group of Hunter's who have kidnapped and imprisoned otherworldly women. Amongst these women is Gwen a Harpy.

Sabin's immediate reaction to Gwen is one that both puzzle's and amazes him. Sabin houses the demon of doubt. Everyone he encounters begin to Doubt everything about themselves no matter how much he tries to tell them otherwise. He has stayed away from women because of this. The last woman he loved Darla committed suicide because she just couldn't handle all the doubt that encompassed her while she was with Sabin.

Gwen has the same reaction with Sabin. She cannot understand why but the only thing she can think about is him and it has nothing to do with the fact that he saved her from her imprisonment. With Gwen being a Harpy a literal descendant of Lucifer, she is very strong and extremely powerful. She just happens to be stronger then the Lords themselves. This fascinates Sabin. The push and pull between Sabin and Gwen is one of the things I loved most about this book. She is just as strong and capable as Sabin.

I love the fact that she isn't a damsel in distress, well for the most part. Gwen spends a lot of time trying to convince Sabin that she isn't useless in the fight against the hunters. I love the relationship between them. It isn't all cookie cutter love. Their are real doubts and conflicts that they have to overcome to be with one another. This is by far my favorite book in the series so far. I could not put this one down.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves the paranormal or for anyone who loves hot guys for that matter. I love this series because each lord has their own challenges that they have to over come in order to live a semi normal life. An amazing series and an amazing read. If you haven't picked up Gena's work then you seriously need to. Go Now!

I give this 5/5 Hearts!!
