Review I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies, #1)

Goodreads Blurb:
In the beginning they were a group of nine. Nine aliens who left their home planet of Lorien when it fell under attack by the evil Mogadorian. Nine aliens who scattered on Earth. Nine aliens who look like ordinary teenagers living ordinary lives, but who have extraordinary, paranormal skills. Nine aliens who might be sitting next to you now.

The Nine had to separate and go into hiding. The Mogadorian caught Number One in Malaysia, Number Two in England, and Number Three in Kenya. All of them were killed. John Smith, of Paradise, Ohio, is Number Four. He knows that he is next.

I AM NUMBER FOUR is the thrilling launch of a series about an exceptional group of teens as they struggle to outrun their past, discover their future—and live a normal life on Earth.

I AM NUMBER FOUR.
I AM NEXT.

My Thoughts:
Spending the last 10 years of his life on the run with his Guardian Henri, John wants nothing more than to settle down and live a normal life.
After leaving their home planet of Lorien because it was attacked by the Mogdoriams for their natural resources.

John and Henri along with 8 other children and guardians come to Earth to hide. Spending their lives constantly looking over their shoulders and changing their identities so the Mogdorians can't find them. The Loric children who have come to Earth are the only hope their planet has and the Mogdorian's are wiping them out one by one.

Three of the children are dead, have been hunted down and slaughtered by the Mogdorians. The Loric people  are gifted and are the only ones who can save the Humans. The Mogdorian's want to take over Earth just like they did with Lorien.

When the children of Lorien come into maturity they come into their Legacies, their powers. The Mogdorian's want to hunt them down before they can put up a fight.

John and Henri end up in Pleasant Ohio, a small town where they can blend in and stay off the radar. John is sick of staying off the radar. He just wants to be normal. He settle's in nicely and ends up with a girlfriend and a best friend but it doesn't take him long to realize that getting close to people isn't as easy as he thought it would be.

As danger comes to his front door, John has to do everything he can to protect himself, his friends and all of mankind, from the same fate that plagued his planet.

I absolutely loved I Am Number Four. A Great Sci-Fi read. Pittacus is very imaginative. He blends Lorien and Earth together very well. I fell in love with his characters and their dynamics. I absolutely loved John. I thought he was an amazing character. He doesn't feel like he belongs anywhere. It has been so long since he has been on his home planet that he doesn't feel a connection with Lorien and he hasn't been able to get comfortable on Earth with the constant running that he doesn't feel normal on Earth either.

I loved the struggle Pittacus makes his characters go through. a great story of excepting the unknown and believing in the unbelievable. A great story of loyalty and true love.

I Give this 4/5 Hearts!

  1. I really need to read this one! The movie is supposed to be good as well, but I always like to read the book first. Great review, and glad you enjoyed it. :)
