Goodreads Synopsis:
New from #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot, a dark, fantastical story about this world . . . and the underworld.
Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can't help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she's never alone . . . because someone is always watching her. Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.
But now she's moved to a new town. Maybe at her new school, she can start fresh. Maybe she can stop feeling so afraid.
Only she can't. Because even here, he finds her. That's how desperately he wants her back. She knows he's no guardian angel, and his dark world isn't exactly heaven, yet she can't stay away . . . especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most.
But if she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld.

My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed Abandon. It did start off a little slow for me but as soon as the story picked up I could not put the book down. Meg has this great quality with her character's that makes you interested in what's going on with them and it makes you feel for them as well.

Her writing style was great as well as the character development. I really enjoyed enjoyed the Hades/Persephone myth that the story was based on. It was definitely a refreshing supernatural tale. I had no issues getting deeply invested in the story.

I loved John and Pierce. I loved how devoted John is to Pierce even though she doesn't understand that what he is trying to do is protect her. She believes that he just wants to keep her prisoner but that is not the case. She spends years trying to stay away from him but is drawn to him at the same time. She believes that he doesn't feel or care but he does more than she knows.

I loved the situations that Pierce had to go through and I loved that John was always there to save her.

Definitely a great read. I highly recommend it. Meg has this great quality in her writing that just captivates you and makes you want to finish the story. The ending was amazing and it sets up for book 2 very nicely. I cannot wait to finish this trilogy and see where Meg takes her characters.
