Bewitching Blog Tours: Author Sarah Gilman Out in the Blue

On a warm spring day, I got a chance to see what few of us humans ever get to see: Vermont’s demon colony, Sanctuary. I traveled to the rural northeast region of the state where a pair of demon Guardians escorted me into the colony. After a tour of Sanctuary—a settlement built under the cover of dense forest exclusively for demon and fallen archangel inhabitants—I got the chance to interview several of the residents.

Today’s interviewee: Ginger Magellan, the heroine of my debut novel, Out in Blue.

Ginger, wearing a burgundy sundress that brings out the red in her hair, joins me and we walk along the colony’s groomed trails. The Guardians, who are responsible for the safety of the colonists, follow at a discreet distance as Ginger and I chat.

Months have passed since the events of the novel. What’s your favorite thing about living in Sanctuary?
{She smiles from ear to ear}. Living with Wren, of course. I’ve also met many new friends and I have space to garden, something I’ve always wanted to try.
What’s your least favorite thing about living in Sanctuary?
I have no complaints, but if you brought any bug spray, I’ll buy it off you.
I take it you and Wren have been getting along well?
Yes, we’re happy. {Grinning, she glances at the sky. I follow her gaze and see Wren flying overhead}.
What do you like most about Wren?
They way he makes me feel loved with a simple brush of his hand across mine. Oh, and his wings are so warm to sleep under in the winter! {She winks.}
Any flaws or bumpy spots in the relationship?
We disagree from time to time, but nothing we can’t talk out. Such challenges make us a stronger couple.
What do you feel is your greatest weakness?
Cooking! I can make simple things and a couple favorite dishes, but other than that, I am a walking nightmare in the kitchen.
And your greatest strength?
I don’t wallow in indecision when faced with challenges. I know what I want and am not afraid to go after my goals.
What are the favorite dishes you mentioned?
Pasta dishes. I make a good baked ziti! {She waves and departs.}

Thank you to My Bookish Fairy Tale for hosting us today! If anyone has questions for Ginger, I’ll to get answers for you! Thanks for reading!

Book Synopsis:
In a violent world where fallen archangels are hunted for their valuable plumage, Wren knows one thing for certain: the human woman who saved him from a poacher attack will die if she stays with him. The demon responsible for his parents’ gruesome deaths two decades ago pines for the chance to rip apart any woman who stands under Wren’s wing.

Wren doesn’t expect Ginger to stay by his side once she discovers his ability to drain life with a mere touch, yet she lingers. When an unusual talent of her own reveals the location of Wren’s father, Wren’s isolated world implodes. With the help of the demon protectors he’s sworn never to trust again, Wren risks everything to rescue his father, confront the demon who stalks his and Ginger’s every step, and claim his eternity with the most courageous woman he’s ever known.

About the Author
Sarah Gilman started her first novel in third grade. She never finished that story, but never gave up the dream. Her fascination with wings also began at that age, when images of the ancient Egyptian goddess Isis captured her imagination and never let go. Now a paranormal romance writer, she employs her love of writing to bring the allure of winged creatures to the pages of her novels. Sarah lives in Vermont with her supportive husband and two spoiled cats.
