Follow Friday and Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by the wonderful Jennifer from Crazy For Books and Follow Friday is hosted by two great bloggers Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read

So starting with The Book Blogger Hop: This weeks question comes from Steph at The Fake Steph

Q: Is there a book that has been languishing on your TBR pile even though you spent months anticipating its release?

A: Oh wow! I cannot even tell you how many I have right now. I find that I covet so many books and when I finally purchase or receive them they end up sitting on my shelf for a long time. To name a few that I have right now. Bloodlines by Richelle Mead, Legend by Marie Lu, Rift by Andrea Cremer, Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin just to name a few. But yes I find that this does happen to me a lot :(

Q: What is a deal breaker for you in a book?

A: Oh wow. I would have to say a slow plot build up is definitely a deal breaker. I am not one to wait 100 pages for something to happen. Not saying that every book has to explode from page one but I really hate slow plot build up.  And unrelateable character's. That is a turn off as well.

  1. I'm not one for slow-buildup either, but sometimes I force my way through the end because I can't stand the thought of leaving a book unfinished! XP

  7. I tried to read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but the first two chapters were excruciatingly boring, so I didn't end up buying the book.

  8. I don't have so many problems with a slow build-up, but I don't like characters I can't relate to.

  10. Good answer!! For me it depends on what the plot is. I can deal with a slow build in a romance, though I usually like those paired with some other plot in a story. I do think stories need a good hook, however, so when I write I will typically start a story at a dramatic moment or one where a character is intimately exposed in some way (not necessarily a naked way, lol) in order to really draw the reader in. 14. Slow plot build-up can be a bummer. But I try to give up on books if I don't find them interesting. Sometimes I read longer into a boring book than I should, though!
