On November 11 Canadians wear poppies and gather at war memorials across the country to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives to war. On the 11 th day of the 11th month of the 11th hour Canadians are asked to pause in the memory of the thousands of men and women who have sacrificed their lives in military service.
In Flanders Field.
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army
In Flanders Field the poppies blow
Between the Crosses row on row,
That mark our place and in the sky,
The larks still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below
We are the dead. Short days ago.
We lived, felt dawn. saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Field.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from falling hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.
I would like for everyone to please take two minutes out of their day to remember all of our fallen soldiers who have risked their lives for our freedom.
Please Take a Moment to Remember
