Goodreads Synopsis:

Deadly Witchcraft. Ghostly Threats. Doomed Romance.

They say every town has its secrets, but that doesn’t even begin to describe Fallen Oaks. The townsfolk are a superstitious lot and the mystical disappearance of a local teen has everyone murmuring about a centuries old witch’s curse.

When sixteen-year-old Shiloh Trudell takes a summer job at Craven Manor, she discovers a ghost with an agenda. That’s where she meets the new town hottie, Trent Donovan, and immediately becomes enchanted by his charms.

Finally, Shiloh’s met someone who is supercute and totally into her, but Trent is immersed in the cunning deception that surrounds the mysterious Craven Manor. So much so that he may lose sight of what is truly important to him. And she can’t decide whether she wants to shake him or kiss him. Yet neither one of them can deny the immediate, passionate connection growing between them.

With cryptic messages from a pesky wraith, Shiloh will finally begin to understand the mysterious significance of the strange mark branded on her wrist and decide how much she’s willing to sacrifice to protect the other teenagers in town.

Unfortunately, for Shiloh, not all ghosts want help crossing over. Some want vengeance.

My Thoughts:

Wow, what an amazing book! I was a little hesitant when I first started reading, afraid it would be like every other average paranormal haunting book out there. But Sherry Soule pulled together some of my absolute favorite elements of a good paranormal story, plus added a few twists and some romance to amp it up.

The story line to Beautifully Broken starts out quick with a punch of adrenaline; than slows down only long enough to fill you in on the important details. Then it is a rollercoaster ride from there, between a bone-chilling haunted mansion, an old town with a deadly secret, and don’t forget the searing play between our gutsy protagonist and sexy bad boy Trent. Thanks to Sherry including two steamy chapters from Trent’s POV, you know his feelings for Shiloh are real.

Trent and Shiloh were definitely my favorite characters, even if sometimes he was a bit of a jerk. He was broken in his own way, cut him some slack.

I am not a great fan of cliffhanger endings, but Sherry Soule nailed this one. I was reading along and all of a sudden-bang, it’s done. My adrenaline was pumping and I was hanging on every word, when suddenly there were no more. I can’t wait for Shattered Silence, but in the meantime, I definitely recommend Beautifully Broken to readers of paranormal, mystery, and romance.
