 Gideon (Nightwalkers, #2)

Nighwalkers Series book 2
Author; Jacquelyn Frank
Pages:  337

Goodreads blurb:
They're called the Nightwalkers - proud, ancient beings who live in the shadows, existing just beyond the human world. But there are also dangerous humans who hunt them - necromancers who use the blackest magic to manipulate them. And for a Demon named Gideon, the battle against these evil forces will soon be all too personal...For a thousand years, Gideon has healed his people. And as the oldest surviving male of his race, his wisdom has always been respected without question.

But Gideon knows that even he is vulnerable to the powerful, primitive desires that befall his kind during Hallowed moons - and nine years ago that truth was hammered home when he found himself claiming Magdalegna, the Demon King's sister, in a wild embrace.

Horrified by his lack of control, he left her wanting and furious - and then exiled himself for the better part of a decade. Now, with necromancers threatening his people - and Magdalegna nearly their victim - Gideon must face another truth. He and the beautiful, stubborn Magdalegna are destined to be together, to share a love as deep and old as time itself. But first he needs to regain her trust. Then he'll have to save her life...

My Thoughts:
Gideon is the oldest and most respected of the Demon Race. The greatest healer of his people. The most controlled and stable of all the Demons, or so he likes to think. Magdelenga the sister of Noah the King of Demons, is the most sophisticated and diplomatic of their race. But even sophistication and utter control cannot hold your natural instincts in check. Gideon has known Lenga her entire life. Lenga respects Gideon with everything she has but finds it hard to get close to the Demon who shows no emotion once so ever towards anything.

Except for one night nine years ago during a Hallowed moons Gideon found himself claiming Lenga in a wild embrace. Shocked by his actions he after loosing his control and embarrassing them both he went into seclusion for almost a decade. The undeniable pull between the two is undeniable anymore. Legna feels herself drawn to Gideon unlike anything she has ever known. After a horrific attack on Legna's friend Isabella the female enforcer who is mated to Jacob the race's Enforcer, Legna and Gideon realize the reason for their attraction to one another. They are Imprinted. A rare phenomenon that happens only once ever 100 or so years. It takes a while for Legna to accept that Gideon is her one and only mate. Her powers have been amplified and blended with Gideon's due to him being an Ancient.

The hunt for Bella's attackers bring the Demon race going in search of help in unexpected places. Gideon is sent to Siena the queen of the Lycanthropes. The war Between the Lycantrhropes and Demons ended 13 years ago when Siena's father was killed and she claimed the throne. But that doesn't mean that they're still aren't hostiles amongst the Lyncanthropes. Gideon goes in search of information but coming out with a strong ally.

Gideon also goes to Damien the Prince of the Vampires for information about the attack. Damien and Gideon have been friends for so long. Both being the oldest of their races they have an understanding with each other that no one will ever quiet understand.

I loved this story. It involves every aspect of the paranormal I love. The entire Nightworld race all entwined in this amazing story. The one enemy of all the Nightworld creatures are the humans. Those who have spent their lives trying to destroy the people of the Nightworld whether they be Demons, Vampires or Lycanthropes all because they don't understand them. This is an amazing tale of different races coming together to destroy one common enemy and hopefully bridging the gap between them along the way.
The attack on Bella and her unborn child has all the Nighworlder's appalled and seeking revenge for an unspeakable act.
As the action continues so will my love of this amazing storyline. I am extremely addicted to this series now I don't think I will stop reading until Jacquelyn stops writing them

I give this 4/5 Hearts!
