Review Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingston

Wondrous Strange (Wondrous Strange, #1)

Goodreads Blurb:
17 year-old Kelley Winslow doesn’t believe in Faeries. Not unless they’re the kind that you find in a theatre, spouting Shakespeare—the kind that Kelley so desperately wishes she could be: onstage, under lights, with a pair of sparkly wings strapped to her shoulders. But as the understudy in a two-bit, hopelessly off-off-Broadway production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, wishing is probably the closest she’s going to get to becoming a Faerie Queen. At least, that’s what she thinks... In this fun, urban fantasy, Kelley's off-stage life suddenly becomes as complicated as one of Shakespeare’s plot twists when a nighttime trip to Central Park holds more than meets the mortal eye.

My Thoughts:
Kelley Winslow is just your typical teenage girl who has moved to New York to continue her acting career. Landing the role of the fairy queen Tatiana from William Shakespears A Midsummer Night's Dream is Kelley'e big break, or so she hopes. What Kelley doesn't know is that she has more in common with this play then she knows.

Sonny Flannery is Janus, a guard of the Samhain Gate, the doorway between the mortal world and the Faerie world. Usually the gates are kept shut but once a year the veil between the two worlds is thin threatening to expose the mortal world to the dangers of the faerie world. It is Sonny's job along with 12 other Janus to keep those from the Faerie world in the Faerie world.

When Kelley meets Sonny her world is turned upside down. The life she has known is nothing what she thought it was. When powerful beings from the Faerie world send forces in search of Kelley, Sonny takes it upon himself to help the girl no matter what. When he comes to realize who Kelley truly is, it becomes a matter of life or death for her.

As Sonny continues to help her, Kelley's feelings towards him continue to grow. They are drawn together because of who they are and their destinies entangle themselves leaving them the only two who can help one another. It is up to Kelley to save the mortal realm and Sonny.

I highly enjoyed this story. It is filled with wonder and imagination that leaves me craving for more of Kelley's world. The detail in this book is amazing. I had no problems picturing exactly what Lesley was describing. I was enthralled with this story. The relationship between Sonny and Kelley is wonderful. Very beautiful and believable. I was very pleased with the story and cannot wait to get my hands on the sequel.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves YA and the paranormal. The world of the Faeries is enthralling and wonderful world, filled wonder and majestic creatures.

I give this 4/5 Hearts!
