Goodreads Blurb:
On the morning of her sixteenth birthday, Renée Winters was still an ordinary girl. She spent her summers at the beach, had the perfect best friend, and had just started dating the cutest guy at school.
No one she'd ever known had died. But all that changes when she finds her parents dead in the Redwood Forest, in what appears to be a strange double murder.
After the funeral Renée’s wealthy grandfather sends her to Gottfried Academy, a remote and mysterious boarding school in Maine, where she finds herself studying subjects like Philosophy, Latin, and the “Crude Sciences.”
It’s there that she meets Dante Berlin, a handsome and elusive boy to whom she feels inexplicably drawn. As they grow closer, unexplainable things begin to happen, but Renée can’t stop herself from falling in love. It’s only when she discovers a dark tragedy in Gottfried’s past that she begins to wonder if the Academy is everything it seems.
Little does she know, Dante is the one hiding a dangerous secret, one that has him fearing for her life.
Dead Beautiful is both a compelling romance and thought-provoking read, bringing shocking new meaning to life, death, love, and the nature of the soul.

My Thoughts:
The day of her 16th birthday Renee Winter's experiences the most horrible thing a child could ever go through. After going to the beach with her friend Renee decides to drive a different way home, she's not sure why but she is pulled in the other direction the longer way home. While driving she spots her parents car. She gets out and searches the woods for her parents. She finds them dead and looking much older than she should have.

After the tragic experience, Renee is left in the care of her grandfather who she hasn't seen in years after him and her parents had a falling out. Renee's grandfather uproots her from her home and moves her halfway across the country to go to a boarding school because he believes that Renee is no longer safe where she is.

Renee is thrust into the world of the elite and proper and she knows that she doesn't belong at all. This school is nothing like Renee has ever seen. The only thing that about this new life that Renee can enjoy is the brooding and mysterious Dante.

As Dante and Renee get closer than they are allowed to do,she starts to realize that nothing is as it seems in this secluded school and Renee's life as she knows it will never ever be the same.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dead Beautiful. A very mysteriously haunting read that was very gripping. I couldn't get enough of this book. The forbidden relationship between Renee and Dante and all the secrets that go on with this new world that Renee lives in was amazing.. Dante wants to love Renee but physically cannot do it without hurting her.

I really really enjoyed this. A great paranormal YA read. I definitely recommend Dead Beautiful to anyone who loves YA, the paranormal and forbidden love!
