Goodreads Synopsis:

Ames Ford has a perfect life--that is, she had a perfect life, until her father is fired and her family has to move from their mansion in Colorado to a slum in Texas. Now her mother won't stop yelling, her father won't stop drinking, and her little sister hides with a pillow over her head to drown out the fighting.

But then Ames meets Marc: Mysterious. Experienced. Rebellious. Gun-obsessed. He loves her more than anything, and he won't let anyone stand in his way where Ames is concerned--especially her parents. And when was the last time they did anything but ignore, dismiss, or hurt her? Ames must now decide just how far she's willing to go for loyalty, for revenge, and for love and if she's willing to commit the ultimate betrayal against her family.

My Thoughts:
Dark Song was absolutely riveting. A novel that is dark and scary on all levels. A story of a families fall from riches and how they cope with going from having everything to having nothing in the blink of an eye.
Ames discovers that her once perfect life mans nothing anymore. Between the chaos of her situation and the anger towards her parents, Ames meets Marc. On the outside he is the picture of perfection but on the inside there is a darkness that will ultimately consume them both.
How far is Ames willing to go to get back at her parents for their betrayal?
I was amazed by Dark Song. This novel is one that needs to be read by teenage girls everywhere. It depicts how easy it is for girls to let men, who claim they love them, to control their lives to the point of no return.

I know this novel is going to be discussed and dissected and there will be critics who will deem it highly inappropriate for young girls to read, but the subject matter of Dark Song should not be ignored.

I praise Gail for being able to shed some light on a horrifying subject. The violence and obsession and chaos that ensues, happens everyday.

A novel that needs to be read. An unforgettable ride between the light and the dark, the love and the loss of innocence.
