Goodreads Synopsis:
Their wolves are howling at the moon. Their human halves are on different planets.
"Takhini Wolves, Book 1"
Lone wolf Shaun Stevens s automatic response to the words happily ever after ? "Kill me now." Yet with all his friends settling down he s begun to think there may actually be something to this love-and-roses crap.
One thing s for sure: his dream mate will have to out-cuss, out-spit and out-hike him. So he never expected the one to push his forever button would be a blue-blooded Southern debutante with a voice as dark and velvety as her skin.
When Gemmita Jacobs steps off the plane in Whitehorse, Yukon, it s about more than her caribou research project. It s her declaration of independence from an overprotected upbringing. Except there s something in the air she can t quite define something that unexpectedly rouses her mating instincts.
Moments after their eyes lock, the deed is done and done thoroughly. When the pheromone dust settles, though, all the reasons they don t belong together become painfully clear.
It s enough to make a wolf learn a whole new set of cuss words
Warning: Two strong wolves getting exactly what they deserve. Includes wilderness nookie, shifters being naughty in public places, the Midnight Sun as a canopy for seduction and grizzly shifters on the loose. Oh, and don t forget the sarcasm.

My Thoughts:
The Cover: Honestly, covers like this do not usualyy attrack me. I mean, sure it is sexy, with two very sexy individuals. But usually I don't read the books with these kind of covers. It was the plot synopsis that did it for me this time.
The Plot: Black Gold had a pretty good plot. The story moved along fairly quickly, it was different in many aspects from other paranormal shifter books I have read and I read it fairly quickly(in less than 48 hours). The romance was steamy, this was definitely not a YA novel! The action and the drama were top notch right from the get go and I enjoyed it very much.
The Characters: Our main protagonists, Shaun and Gem were pretty kick ass. I really enjoyed reading their story and watching as their love grew, as they grew into perfect partners. All of the characters in Black Gold were very well written and all it took was some wolves and a bottle of homemade moonshine and I was hooked on the Takhini Clan.
Is it Worth Reading?: Asbolutely, although don't read it-devour it! It is a non-stop read for sure. I am not huge on the whole sex every few pages books, but the plot to this one was good enough and the sex was hot enough that it kept me turning pages. I am about to start Silver Mine, the next book in the Takhini series. I recommend Black Gold to readers of paranormal fantasy romance and give it 4/5 crossbows!
