'Delton shook his head. “Don't mind him. He's an ass.”
Am not. Am a wolfer. Wol-ver.” Mark straightened up best he could and pawed the air with his fingers spread wide. “Scary dude with sharp claws. Only I got much better hair.”

Goodreads Synopsis:

"If a tree falls in the forest, duck..."

"Takhini Wolves, Book 2"

Life in isolation is the safest place for Chase Johnson, a crossbreed who doesn't know which form he'll assume next-cougar or wolf. Once a year, his unelected position as spokesman for the Yukon outcasts forces him to visit civilization. This time he runs across someone unexpected. She's not his mate, but she pushes all the right buttons.

It's taken years for Shelley Bradley to gather the courage to return to her home pack. In spite of being the lowest of the low-a shifter who can't shift-she's determined to make a place for herself as the Whitehorse locals' new vet-slash-doctor.

There's definite electricity between her and Chase, but sex with fellow shifters and the inherent mind games got old a long time ago. Ignoring him seems best. When he shows up at her office with a wound that won't heal, she's stuck-yet drawn to solve this medical mystery.

As they journey deep into outcast territory in search of answers, their powerful sexual attraction crumbles her resistance. But time is of the essence. If a cure can't be found before his human and cougar succumb to his injury, he-and others like him-will die.

Warning: Contains a silver-tongued, hairy-chested, lean-muscled Alpha who's got what it takes to lead in the wilderness and in the bedroom. Yeah, I know...not really much of a deterrent, is it? Throw in continuing territorial wars and a domestic cat. Stir and enjoy the chaos.

My Thoughts:

The Cover: This on had a beautiful cover. I love the cougar, he looks so majestic. Again, I would probably take one look at the couple on the cover and say, No Thanks. But I already know that Vivian Arend can write.
The Plot:  The plot to Silver Mine was intense. I did not want to put this one down. What an adventure from one page to the next, it was explosions and fights, and mystery, and hot love. And so funny. Vivian has a sense of humor that makes you laugh out loud.

The Characters: Just like in Black Gold, book 1 of the Takhini Wolves series, Chase and Shelley kick ass. They were both very strong characters that many of us can relate to in some way or the other. I liked that characters from the original book were included in Silver Mine and I am starting to feel a bit of an addiction to the Takhini Clan. They are very well written characters, and I want to know all their stories.

Is it Worth Reading?:  Yes, definitely, although beware. Silver Mine was so good, I finished it in less than 36 hours. It was such a great adventure and Vivian is such an amazing author that you actually feel like you are there, watching each fight go down or unravelling the mystery or watching that steamy kiss. I highly recommend Silver Mine to readers of fantasy paranormal romance and give it 4/5 crossbows!
