I absolutely loved 13 to Life. It is an amazing story of loss, deception, betrayal. It is also the ultimate story of love and loyalty.
I adored this story and it has all the elements of a book that I love. There was such a great connection between the characters and an amazing plot. As soon as I thought I had the book figured out Shannon threw in more loops that I was not expecting. A gripping read that kept me on my toes.
An amazing YA. I highly recommend 13 to Life to anyone who loves the paranormal and hot Russian Werewolves.

Goodreads Blurb: It's 1854 and sixteen-year-old Molly would give anything to change her circumstances as a lowly servant in a posh London house. So when she hears of an opportunity to join the nurses who will be traveling with Florence Nightingale to the Crimea, she jumps at the chance. The work is grueling, the hospital conditions deplorable, and Miss Nightingale a demanding teacher.
Before long, the plight of British soldiers becomes more than just a mission of mercy as Molly finds that she's falling in love with both a dashing young doctor and a soldier who has joined the army to be near her. But with the battle raging ever nearer, can Molly keep the two men she cares for from harm? A love story to savor, and a fascinating behind-the-scenes imagining of the woman who became known as "the lady with the lamp."
My Thoughts: Molly a young parlor maid in 1854 is dismissed from her duties at the house of the Abington-Smythes where she had been working for since she was 15. A young girl with no education and no hopes of working as a parlor maid again, she overhears a news boy yelling out the days headlines about the war and how the lady Florence Nightingale was calling for 100 experienced nurses to travel with her to Turkey to take care of all the soldiers over there.
Molly did not have any knowledge or experience in nursing but went for the interview anyways. Upon learning that she was not qualified to go, Molly takes it upon herself to find a way. Afraid of being disgraced by her parents and needing to send money home to help care for her family, 17 year old Molly sets out on the journey of a lifetime.
The amazing story of the real Florence Nightingale and her amazing tale of how she improved the nursing conditions for the entire world and modern medicine. With a strict thinking process on how things should be done ended up leaving Nightingale with a reputation for her abrasiveness, single-minded to the point of obsession and self-sacrificing practices. Florence Nightingale was the greatest heroine of her time.
Upon meeting Molly, Nightingale decides to give her a chance. A stickler for the rules as Nightingale was she was something in Molly. Molly turned out to be an extraordinary nurse but had a difficult time following Nightingale's rules. One of her most important was no flirting with the men at all. Neither doctors or soldiers.
Molly finds herself struggling with her own heart between Will her friend from back home who has followed her all the way to Turkey and Dr Mclean.
In The Shadow of The Lamp is a wonderful tale of heart, fate, courage and survival. An amazing love story and a great eye opener for the lives of women back in the 1850's. Suzanne has written an emotional masterpiece that will transcend across all age gaps. Gripping story line and a wonderful mix of fact and fiction.
I absolutely adore paranormal romance. Nightshade was no exception. This was an amazing story on all levels. Michelle Rowen brought kick ass heroin to a whole new level for me.
Blurb From Michelle's Site: Jillian Conrad never believed in vampires. But she’s just become a living, breathing weapon against them. Attacked by a desperate scientist, she is injected with a serum that was supposed to act as a deadly poison to vampires. And when the scientist is gunned down in front of her, his secrets die with him.
Declan Reyes was only half-vampire, but he hates them with all his heart. He knows that the poison in Jillian’s veins could finally destroy the undead kingdom. Also, the serum has had an unintended effect, making her blood irresistible to all vampires—including Declan, whose bloodthirsty traits are driven into a frenzy by her.
Driven by duty to protect her and by instinct to crave her, Declan takes Jillian into his world of blood and battle. But he soon realizes his increasing need for her may be a different kind of hunger…
My Thoughts: Jillian Conrad was an ordinary woman who worked temp jobs because she could never find anything she loved enough to keep a permanent position. While working at a temp job that she didn't really like, Jillian set out to get coffee one afternoon, but she didn't realize that that afternoon getting stuck in the Starbucks waiting line would change her life forever.
On her way back to her office while waiting for an elevator Jill's life changed the moment Dr.Anderson stepped out of off the elevator. Jill could tell that there was something wrong with the look in his eyes but she never expected to be caught in the middle of a showdown between Dr Anderson and Declan a half vampire, a dahmpyr assassin. During the most bizarre argument that Jill has ever heard Anderson took Jill as a hostage and stuck her in the neck with a poison. A poison that shoved Jill into the world of Vampires and vampire hunters.
Declan Reyes a dahmpry vampire assassin has done what he has been told to do for his entire life. Suppressing animalistic side has been the only thing that Declan cares about. Even though he is half vampire he hates the entire species with everything he has. He has spent his entire life keeping his emotions in check that he doesn't realize when someone is trying to get close to him.
Declan takes Jill back to his home where his father Carson Reyes is suppose to help Jill figure out how to take Nightshade out of her system without killing her. But finds out that there is more going on with his father's research then he could ever imagine possible.
I absolutely adored Nightshade. An action-packed read from beginning to end. I absolutely loved Jill. The spirit and fight that she has is remarkable considering what she is going through. But Jill soon realizes that her life means more to her than even she realized. The relationship between Declan and Jill is mysterious and heart throbbing.
A great story of betrayal, passion, fear, longing and hope. Nightshade is a must read for me. Anyone who loves paranormal romance and loves a Kick Ass Heroine and an amazingly Sexy Half Vampire definitely need to check out Michelle's Nightshade! I am highly anticipating Bloodlust book 2 in the Nightshade series.

Adversary by Kate Kaynak Release Date:August 18 2010 Publisher: Spencer Hill Press Format: ARC Paperback Pages:238 Genre: YA/Supernatural Series: Ganzfield (#2) Source: Author
Goodreads Synopsis: Things are more dangerous than they seem at Ganzfield, and not everyone will survive. Does Maddie have what it takes?
See what happens next in the sequel to Minder.
My Thoughts: Ok so If I thought Minder was amazing I had no idea that Kate could make it any better, but sure enough she did. Kate takes the story to a whole different level with Advesary. Absolutely brilliantly written and extremely captivating. Kate has no problem keeping me hooked onto every word.
Maddie, Trevor,Drew, Rachel and Hannah embark on a terrifying task when they discover a devastating tragedy has hit Ganzfield the place that everyone has come to know as home. The danger from Isaiah is still threatening the lives of everyone that Maddie loves. Most of all herself. Being the only one with Telepathic abilities as strong as Isaiah, leaves Isaiah needing to eliminate Maddie now more than ever. With Isaiah wanting to destroy all the G-Positives of the world he has become a stark raving lunatic in his quest to wipe them off from the world.
Maddie and Trevor's relationship continues to grow in the strongest ways possible. Their love for each other is unwavering as their connection brings them closer together than anyone, even them, would have guessed possible.
Maddie knows that the only way to stop Isaiah is to kill him before he kills everyone else. But will they be able to stop him before he causes them more pain? Or is this just the beginning?
I absolutely love this series and cannot get enough of it. I love the relationship between Maddie and Trevor. I found myself laughing, and crying and feeling every emotion possible while reading. Kate has introduced a couple new characters who bring some new drama into their already hectic lives.
If you have not gotten your hands on Minder or Advesary I highly highly suggest you do. You will not be disappointed I promise. A must read for me!

Goodreads Synopsis: New enemies, new romance, and new horrors,
Billi's back, and it seems like the Unholy just can't take a hint.
Still reeling from the death of her best friend, Kay, Billi's thrust back into action when the Templars are called to investigate werewolf activity. And these werewolves are like nothing Bilil's seen before.
They call themselves the Polenitsy - Man Killers. The ancient warrior women of Eastern Europe, supposedly wiped out centuries ago. But now they're out of hiding and on the hunt for a Spring Child -- an Oracle powerful enough to blow the volcano at Yellowstone -- precipitating a Fimbulwinter that will wipe out humankind for good.
The Templars follow the stolen Spring Child to Russia, and the only people there who can help are the Bogatyrs, a group of knights who may have gone to the dark side. To reclaim the Spring Child and save the world, Billi needs to earn the trust of Ivan Romanov, an arrogant young Bogatyr whose suspicious of people in general, and of Billi in particular.
Dark Goddess is a page-turning, action-packed sequel that spans continents, from England to the Russian underworld and back. This is an adventure of folklore and myth become darkly real. Of the world running out of time. And of Billi SanGreal, the only one who can save it.
My Thoughts: The second installment in the Dark Kiss series was just as action-packed and high energy as the first novel. We continue to follow the life of 15 year old Billi SanGreal as the Templar Knights continue to try to save mankind from all that is Unholy.
Billi and Pelleas set off in search of a renegade werewolf. The Knights have made a truce amongst the local werewolf pack. As long as the werewolves don't hunt humans, the Knights will leave them be. But every once in a while a werewolf will go rogue and break the truce. During their hunt, Billi and Pelleas come across a local farmhouse. The entire family has been slaughtered except for a little girl, Vasilia. As Billi battles her way through the two werewolves she saves the young girl and barely escapes. But Vasilia is no ordinary girl. She is special, very special. She is the Spring Child, an orcacle with more power than anyone should wield, let alone a 9 year old girl.
But the Knights aren't the only ones who know that Vasilia is the Spring Child, so do the Polenitsy, a werewolf pack from Russia. The all woman pack are working in service to Baba Yaga, mother nature herself. Baba Yaga needs the Spring Child in order to bring devastation to the Earth, to plague it back to the way it was when the Earth just started. Baba Yaga believes that mankind is killing Earth and needs Vasilia to make this happen.
Billi and the Knights go to Russia in search of Vasila after she was kidnapped by the Polenitsy. The Knights team up with the Bogytars when the reach Russia, a group much like the Knights, or at least that's what they were told. Here Billi meets Ivan the young Romanov prince who is supposed to be the heir to the throne. After Ivan learns of the great deceit amongst his people he leaves with Billi in serach of Vasilia and Baba Yaga.
Will they make it in time to save the young girl and the rest of mankind? Or will they just just a little too late?
Sarwat did not disappoint with Dark Goddess. The same brilliant storyline and writing style as Devils Kiss. Sarwat kept me on my toes throughout the entire story. He effortlessly tells Billi's story and had me captivated the whole way through. I cannot wait to see where Sarwat takes his story next.
Goodreads Synopsis: As the youngest and only female member of the Knights Templar, Bilquis SanGreal grew up knowing she wasn't normal. Instead of hanging out at the mall or going on dates, she spends her time training as a soldier in her order's ancient battle against the Unholy.
Billi's cloistered life is blasted apart when her childhood friend, Kay, returns from Jerusalem, gorgeous and with a dangerous chip on his shoulder. He's ready to reclaim his place in Billi's life, but she's met someone new: amber-eyed Michael, who seems to understand her like no one else, effortlessly claiming a stake in her heart.
But the Templars are called to duty before Billi can enjoy the pleasant new twist to her life. One of the order's ancient enemies has resurfaced, searching for a treasure that the Templars have protected for hundreds of years -- a cursed mirror powerful enough to kill all of London's firstborn. To save her city from catastrophe, Billi will have to put her heart aside and make sacrifices greater than any of the Templars could have imagined.
My thoughts: Billi SanGreal wants to be normal, not some soilder of a long but forgotten society of warriors. She just wants to have friends, go to the movies or maybe even have a boyfriend. But no she just happens to be the youngest member of the world's most famous society the Knights Templar. But the Knight's Templar is not what it once was. It was the most respected and feared and not just a shell of what it once was. From numbers at one time being in the thousands are now down to 9. 9 people to defend humanity against the monsters that hide in the shadows. The creatures that children are told about as bedtime stories.
The faith that humanity once had in God has faltered leaving these warriors to devote their lives to saving their souls from those they once prayed to.
Billi and her father Arthur, the master of the Knights, spend their lives training and trying to defend the world. But Billi doesn't want this anymore. She wants out but her father would never allow that to happen. Arthur is the most cruel and most emotionless man she has ever met. He wasn't always that way, but after her mother's murder Arthur has never been the same.
Billi's life is turned upside down when her best friend Kay returns from his year long trip to train in Jerusalem. The only person her age that she has ever been frineds with. But the Kay who comes back is not her her lighthearted friend who left. Sick and tired of living her life to only fight and nothing else Billi seeks solace in a beautiful stranger Mike. There is something so captivating about Mike that makes Billi drop all of her defences. But Mike isn't all that he seems.
Kay wants to save Billi from all that will and can hurt her but cannot bring himself to get close to her. Afraid that he will loose her he pushes her away only to realize that she is the only one he needs. But is it too late? Heavenly beings have other plans for the Knights. Can they save mankind from those that they pray to?
I absolutely devoured Devil's Kiss. I was immediately engrossed in the story. Devil's Kiss is an action-packed, hight-energy and faced paced read. I was not bored once throughout the entire book. I love Billi. She is a great heroine who can kick some serious ass and needs to be feared even by Heavenly Beings. Sarwat had be eagerly anticipating the next page. It was a very gripping read. Devil's Kiss is a great read. I highly recommend it.
