Review: A Werewolf In Manhattan by Vicki Lewis Thompson

A Werewolf in Manhattan by Vicki Lewis Thompson

Goodreads Blurb:

Emma Gavin writes about werewolves, but that doesn't mean she believes in them-not until a pack of real-life New York weres decide to investigate the striking accuracy of her "fiction".
When Aiden Wallace, son and heir of the pack leader, tries to sniff out Emma's potential informant, he discovers something even more dangerous- an undeniable attraction to her.

Review: At Grave's End by Jeaniene Frost

Release Date: January 1 2009
Publisher: Avon
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Pages: 342
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Series: Nighthuntress (#3)
Source: Purchased

Goodreads Synopsis:
Some Things Won’t Stay Buried … At Grave’s End
It should be the best time of half-vampire Cat Crawfield’s life. With her undead lover Bones at her side, she’s successfully protected mortals from the rogue undead. But though Cat’s worn disguise after disguise to keep her true identity a secret from the brazen bloodsuckers, her cover’s finally been blown, placing her in terrible danger.
As if that wasn’t enough, a woman from Bones’s past is determined to bury him once and for all. Caught in the crosshairs of a vengeful vamp, yet determined to help Bones stop a lethal magic from being unleashed, Cat’s about to learn the true meaning of bad blood. And the tricks she’s learned as a special agent won’t help her. She will need to fully embrace her vampire instincts in order to save herself – and Bones – from a fate worse than the grave
My Thoughts:
Another great installment to an already great series. Cat and Bones kick it off with the third book in the series. Cat and Bones have finally been able to live their lives together. Her team and her mother have finally accepted their relationship. But when the team needs some "extra" help, Cat never would have expected for her uncle to agree.
I seriously cannot write this without including spoilers so all I am going to say is absolutely amazing. Another read that took me less than a day to get through because I could not put it down. I tried believe me but I just couldn't. Jeaniene just sucks you into her world and you never want to leave. A great Urban Fantasy that keeps you hooked from the first page to the last. I love all of Jeaniene's characters. An amazingly kick ass world of danger at every turn, love that nothing can ruin, and loyalty beyond the threads of friendship.
If you have not yet read this amazing series I highly suggest you go out and grab it. You will fall in love with Cat and Bones just like I have.
I give this 5/5 Hearts!

Review: One Foot In The Grave by Jeanine Frost

Goodreads Blurb:
Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She’s still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind.

Being around Bones awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline rush of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head – wanted: dead or half-alive – means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard Cat tries to keep things professional between them, she’ll find that desire lasts forever … and Bones won’t let her get away again.

Upcoming Release May 2011

Thanks to Penquin Teen I have noticed a new release coming out in May 3 2011. A great book called So Much Closer by Susanne Colasanti. Here is the Trailer for this new release. Check it out!!

I cannot wait until May 3rd! I am very excited for So Much Closer. What do you think?

Books Vs Movies What Do You Think?

Ok so I recently saw the movie I am Number Four after I read the book. I did this on purpose because I have been noticing lately that a lot of great books are being turned into film. This is a great thing for those who aren't that into reading but they can still enjoy the same story that we do. Now I find that turning books into film can either be really good or really bad because I find that it is extremely hard to turn a book into a good film. There is just to much descriptions in the books that it does not transcend onto film very well, depending on the book.

I find that I will always try to read the book before I see a movie because as everyone know's the books are usually much better than the film only because you just cannot put a 350 page book into an hour and a half worth of film. Well you can but you have to leave out a lot of the good stuff and that's what bothers me. I find that when a book is made into a movie they always leave the best parts of the books out of the films. I also find that they don't or can't include all of the information that they need to.

Publisher: Hyperion
Format: Hardcover
Pages:464
Genre:YA/Supernatural
Series Dead Beautiful (#1)

Goodreads Blurb:
On the morning of her sixteenth birthday, Renée Winters was still an ordinary girl. She spent her summers at the beach, had the perfect best friend, and had just started dating the cutest guy at school.
No one she'd ever known had died. But all that changes when she finds her parents dead in the Redwood Forest, in what appears to be a strange double murder.
After the funeral Renée’s wealthy grandfather sends her to Gottfried Academy, a remote and mysterious boarding school in Maine, where she finds herself studying subjects like Philosophy, Latin, and the “Crude Sciences.”
It’s there that she meets Dante Berlin, a handsome and elusive boy to whom she feels inexplicably drawn. As they grow closer, unexplainable things begin to happen, but Renée can’t stop herself from falling in love. It’s only when she discovers a dark tragedy in Gottfried’s past that she begins to wonder if the Academy is everything it seems.
Little does she know, Dante is the one hiding a dangerous secret, one that has him fearing for her life.
Dead Beautiful is both a compelling romance and thought-provoking read, bringing shocking new meaning to life, death, love, and the nature of the soul.

My Thoughts:
The day of her 16th birthday Renee Winter's experiences the most horrible thing a child could ever go through. After going to the beach with her friend Renee decides to drive a different way home, she's not sure why but she is pulled in the other direction the longer way home. While driving she spots her parents car. She gets out and searches the woods for her parents. She finds them dead and looking much older than she should have.

After the tragic experience, Renee is left in the care of her grandfather who she hasn't seen in years after him and her parents had a falling out. Renee's grandfather uproots her from her home and moves her halfway across the country to go to a boarding school because he believes that Renee is no longer safe where she is.

Renee is thrust into the world of the elite and proper and she knows that she doesn't belong at all. This school is nothing like Renee has ever seen. The only thing that about this new life that Renee can enjoy is the brooding and mysterious Dante.

As Dante and Renee get closer than they are allowed to do,she starts to realize that nothing is as it seems in this secluded school and Renee's life as she knows it will never ever be the same.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dead Beautiful. A very mysteriously haunting read that was very gripping. I couldn't get enough of this book. The forbidden relationship between Renee and Dante and all the secrets that go on with this new world that Renee lives in was amazing.. Dante wants to love Renee but physically cannot do it without hurting her.

I really really enjoyed this. A great paranormal YA read. I definitely recommend Dead Beautiful to anyone who loves YA, the paranormal and forbidden love!

Review City Of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4)City Of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare
Release Date: April 5 2011
Publisher: Margaret K McElderly Books
Format: Hardcover
Pages: 424
Genre: YA/Supernatural
Series: The Mortal Instruments (#4)
Source: Purchased

Goodreads Synopsis:
City of Fallen Angels is the fourth book in the bestselling series The Mortal Instruments.

“City of Fallen Angels takes place two months after the events of City of Glass. In it, a mysterious someone’s killing the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine’s Circle and displaying their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to provoke hostility between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, leaving tensions running high in the city and disrupting Clary’s plan to lead as normal a life as she can — training to be a Shadowhunter, and pursuing her relationship with Jace. As Jace and Clary delve into the issue of the murdered Shadowhunters, they discover a mystery that has deeply personal consequences for them — consequences that may strengthen their relationship, or rip it apart forever. Meanwhile, internecine warfare among vampires is tearing the Downworld community apart, and only Simon — the Daylighter who everyone wants on their side — can decide the outcome; too bad he wants nothing to do with Downworld politics. Love, blood, betrayal and revenge: the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

My Thoughts:
After the War in Idris, Clary and Jace are back in New York. Clary has started her training to be a Shadowhunter and learning how to use her power. The Accords have finally made it so that the Downworlder's and the Shadowhunters are living at peace for the first time.
She can finally be with Jace and her life is finally where she wants it to be. But when Jace starts detaching himself from her and becoming withdrawn she doesn't know what to think. She sets out to find away to help Jace come to grips with his past and move forward. But this just leads them down a path that no one was expecting.

Someone is killing Shadowhunter's and leaving them in each territory of the Downworlder's someone who wants to cause chaos amongst the peace that they have finally accomplished. Everyone that Clary has grown to depend on and look to for help cannot help her anymore. Simon being a new vampire has his own issues to deal with. Since Clary gave him The Mark of Cain everyone wants a piece of him. Not only is he a Daywalker but he cannot be killed now. Everyone wants to be allies with Simon but Simon just wants to be normal. But he is quickly beginning to learn that isn't a possibility for him.

The young Shadowhunter's are all put through a test as they try to figure out who wants Simon, what is going on with Jace and Clary and who is killing the Shadowhunters. They never could have expected who is behind all of there troubles.

The amazing Mortal Instruments series continues with book four. Cassandra Clare never ceases to amaze me with her amazing writing style and her imagination. She is an author that can captivate and keep me hooked from page one.
A gripping read that leaves you begging for more. The books don't last long enough for me I cannot get enough. I am absolutely in love with the Mortal Instruments.

The Body Finder By Kimberley Derting

The Body Finder (The Body Finder, #1)

Goodreads Blurb:

Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes the dead leave behind in the world . . . and the imprints that attach to their killers.
Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find dead birds her cat left for her. But now that a serial killer is terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, Violet realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.
Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved by her hope that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer . . . and becoming his prey herself.
